About Coach

As a professional actor, I had no experience with athletics until the ripe old age of 22, when I decided that a life of vying to be the skinniest girl at the casting call was no longer for me. My journey from skinny to strong made me the coach, athlete, and woman I am today, and I am grateful for both parts of my story. Now, as an accomplished hybrid athlete, I am a firm believer that what your body can do is a far greater accomplishment than what it looks like, and I love pushing myself to the limit and exploring what I am capable of.

Turning Point

The final audition I went on as an actor was for an episode of Law and Order: SVU, with a casting director that I had met through my agent and was hoping to establish a good relationship with. I found out that I booked a reading three days before, and was given sides (a portion of the script) to memorize for the call. By the time I showed up at the casting office the day of the audition, however, I had not given the sides more than a glance. For the past three days, all I had done was weigh myself, stand in front of the mirror, and beat myself up for not being thin enough. At the reading, I was unprepared and exceptionally nervous, which led to a terrible performance and the strong likelihood of never being called in by this casting director again. From that day forward, I knew that I had an unhealthy relationship with food and my body image that was getting in the way of my ability to succeed, so I decided to step away from show business until I could heal those things. It was on that journey to healing that I discovered my love of athletics and how empowering movement can be and decided to leave acting behind to become a fitness professional.
